We are organizing a class action lawsuit against the City of Redington Beach, North Redington, and Redington Shores for the following unjust and unlawful practices:
⚠️ OUTRAGEOUS PERMITTING COSTS
Our towns are the only ones on the coast still charging excessive permitting fees, while neighboring cities like Madeira Beach, St. Pete, and Treasure Island have waived them entirely due to the state of emergency! Meanwhile, Redington received FEMA funding for permitting and additional staff, yet the money is being misused. This has led to severe delays, leaving residents displaced and homeless.
⚠️ FEMA COLLUSION & CONFLICT OF INTEREST
The city isn’t just complying with FEMA; they are working side-by-side with a private third-party company (Tidal Basin) that is determining damage assessments. Even worse, the main permit technician at the building department ALSO works for Tidal Basin—a clear conflict of interest that must be investigated! How can we trust the city’s permitting decisions when the same people profiting from FEMA claims are the ones approving or denying permits?
⚠️ ABUSE OF POWER & UNCONSTITUTIONAL FINES
Code enforcement is trampling on our constitutional rights, slapping residents with outrageous fines that do not align with Florida law. Instead of helping residents, the city is retaliating against them for its own incompetence.
